How about a forum where people can give reviews of different planes??? I think it would be nice to have.

It would be nice, but unfortunately many people aren't as open to constructive criticism as others.  (And some aren't as good at the constructive as they are the criticism.)  It would most definitely result in arguments and locked topics. :'(
Great edit, Bob.

As Scott says - there are too many people who do not understand the generosity of this whole hobby & take the whole thing for granted.

In reality, negative feedback can & does destroy a designer's enthusiasm & willingness to contribute.

How would you feel if you put a lot of effort into doing a drawing & some idiot kid came up & said 'that sucks!' ? You'd be hurt - & this hobby is driven by enthusiasm & positivity & destroyed by the negative feedbackers.

Jakemaster, you can always go to the "Designer Feedback" forum and post a "review". That is what I do!  ;)

I have to agree -  I recently read the "official" review on site about the Gloster Meteor - it was well done and informative - by someone who seemed to know his subject.   In general the official reviews posted on sites, (assumedly by people who are known and accepted) tend to be positive and supportive.

Over the years I have downloaded many MB's of stuff that I have been disappointed in - my solution has always been to remove it and move on.    If possible, (given the right email urls etc.,) I like to send a thank-you to the designer, pointing out the highlights.

I remember getting a 'review' from someone a while back - using our (??) template - read something like this ...

Visual model : Rocks

Panel: Sucks - default

Sounds : Sucks - default

Air Handling : Rocks

Ground Handling : Rocks

The guy then wrote back to me asking why I hadn't posted it .......

If we could have a way to make one board where mods could approve the post before making it live that would be a good idea .... don't think that can be done with this version of Yabb ....

Pete,

I am an artist in life. Do paintings, illustrations, sculpture, photography, etc. I have this happen all the time. Criticism whether good or bad I weigh equally, as some of the negative criticism I receive benefits me in that I strive to get better than I am now. And for all the positive critiques I get, I feel the same way.

There is a difference between knowing who is honest with a critique rather than someone who is talking out of their ###. If I read a review on my artwork where someone says "it sucks" without elaborating why they think that way, its in one ear and out the other. Now if someone says "it sucks. Your composition, and jusxtaposition is wrong, here is why I think so, and while your at it, I think it would have been better if you added this color or that color" with indepth ideas behind the post, I would read it in earnest and consider the critique in a favorable light.

It would be great if folk were as reliable ... in my experience they just aren't - ...

Sure some 'positive' criticism is great - but you should see the reviews I've been sent - !!

There are some folk out there who have a thing about being negative...... (forgive me if I sound like one right now but look at the site & review your impression..)

I've seen a few too many simviation contributors being knocked to the ground by those (including at least one major current payware designer) who take some satisfaction in rebuking the efforts of well meaning people ..
