Forums running slow/not loading

Postby patchz » Mon Sep 20, 2010 10:25 am

Over the past week or so, the forums have gotten progressively slower to load, but it is inconsistent. I have checked the main section and downloads, as well as other forums and web sites for comparison, and it seems to

be only our forums. I have run 'tracert www.simviation.com' but I don't really know how to read the results and since it seems to be only the SimV forums I don't think that will answer the problem. I have cleared the cache

in my browser and I run CCleaner often. In other words, I have attempted to ascertain if the problem was on my end. Since it does not appear anywhere else, I decided to post. You can't fix a problem if you aren't aware of

it. Granted, the problem could still be on my end, but I don't know what else to do at this point. But if no one else is having the problem, then it must be on my end.

Thansk and sorry ....  -- yup are aware of the situation and as you say it seems to be just the forums server .... we're running a few tests and if necessary we'll ask the hosting company to run tests their side & plug in a gizmo to see if anything we cannot see is causing the problem.

Thanks John and Pete. :)
I'm sorry the site is having difficulties, but it's nice to know it's not on my end, for a change.

I thought it was just my machine messing with me......sometimes things were the usual quickness.....other times were slower than molasses in January.....

Thanx to all the admins/moderators for taking the time to administer this site, and tinker with the works when thing go askew! :)

Decided to give IE8 a try while waiting for Chrome7.  It sure doesn't like the SimV site - about every five minutes, 'operation aborted blah, blah'.  Usually a hit on the return button does the trick but it keeps coming back.

The Forums only are slow here also. Like Patchz,I ran tracert www.simviation.com but it turns off right away and I couldn't understand any of the jargon it showed. :-/
I do want to thank you guys for being prompt and looking into it. ;)
Hopefully it'll get resolved soon.
