March 1st - 3rd: Site running slow?

Postby Xyn_Air » Mon Mar 03, 2008 3:50 am

Don't worry, I am not bent out of shape or anything.  But, I was wondering if anyone else noticed the SimV forums responding a bit slowly over the past few days?

I have checked a number of other sites, and even logged in to some of my favorite online games, and I have not been experiencing any lag elsewhere.

Just curious as to what is up, and thought maybe someone else had noticed or may want to know.

I've had problems all over the weekend. Impossible to access the forum or main site at times. I was beginning to think it was my end as nobody else had mentioned it. I assume there's a problem with the server.

PS. It's running painfully slowly as I type this.

Well, it seems site access speed has picked back up again.  Go figure!  Moan about a problem and it disappears just to make you look crazy!  Well, at least I have some company on this one!

Happy to be back up to speed,
Darrin

I noticed it running slow - even unable to connect on Saturday AM. Not since but I'll take your word that it was.

I have a recorder running now to see if it happens again - it will tell me if there is any activity - such as a DoS - that will cause this - as well as where the DoS is coming from.

It's almost impossible to avoid this happening from time to time.

Apologies to anyone effected - including myself.  ::)

Pete,

Best of luck to you on sorting this out.  I know you do your best to provide us with a great service!

Just for further info (in case it helps you any), I noticed a slowdown around about midnight on March 5th (Wednesday in the little hours of the night), too.  Again, I tried using different computers, and I also visited other Internet resources for comparison.  For a day-and-a-half (mid-Monday to Wednesday about midnight) everything was smooth as glass.  And then there seemed to be a bit of a bottleneck, again.

Anyway, hope the info helps.  Either way, no complaints on my end.  I may get sad when I can't access SimV, but I am never upset with you!  So, hang in there!
