Unable to Log Out!...

Postby Fozzer » Thu Nov 08, 2007 4:36 am

Hello Chums... :)...!

Over the past couple of days, quite suddenly, I have been unable to Log Out via the "Log Out" button on the Forum page... :o...!
The page merely refreshes, and remains the same!

This is preventing me from accessing my other Forum accounts, to communicate, and obtain my daily Mail from within the Forum.... :'(...!

It also means that I cannot prevent prying little fingers from interfering with my Posts when I'm not around, as is recommended!.... :(...!

I can only assume that a fault has suddenly occurred within the YaBB Code?

Many thanks... ;)...!

Hi Paul. I just logged out & back in again. The problem must be at your end. Perhaps you need to clear out your History & Temp Internet Files.

Paul try clearing your cookies everytime you finish up using the net. Sometimes they can cause problems ;) Also are you having any problems with your connection dropping the line whilst using the forums or your connection going really slowly? Those can also cause problems upon occassion ;)

Hi Paul. I just logged out & back in again. The problem must be at your end. Perhaps you need to clear out your History & Temp Internet Files.

Try right-clicking the Logout button & select 'Open Link in New Window'. See if that does the trick.

This is preventing me from accessing my other Forum accounts, to communicate, and obtain my daily Mail from within the Forum.... ...!

It also means that I cannot prevent prying little fingers from interfering with my Posts when I'm not around, as is recommended!.... ...!

Not sure why this would prevent you using as many forums on other websites as you wish. Simply open them in New Tabs or New Windows. I usually log out on leaving the forum but I suspect many of our regular members stay logged in permanently. If anyone knows enough to hack your posts, being logged out won't make any difference anyway.

Hello Doug...

..just a bit of clarification: I meant accessing my other, different accounts withing the Sim V Forum...;)...

I need to Log Out, then Log In again using my alternative account.

I can Log In, and Log out OK on the other Site Forums I visit (Avsim, Flightsim, WSP, etc)...;)...!

I will try your suggestion, eg, Temp and|History Files.

Cheers Doug...

Mozilla Firefox, Doug...

What worries me, is that every now and again, Firefox insists on upgrading my Browser, even if I don't want it to... >:(...!

It has done it a couple of times in the past few days, and caused me a few problems...
...one of them involving losing all my "Backups" in the Browser!... >:(... >:(... >:(...!
...and insisting on making "Google" my "Home Page", resulting in me having to change it back to "Orange" again... >:(...!

Although my other Internet Site's Forums, etc, work OK, I'm still having problems with the Sim V Forum log-in/log out, from within the Forum!

Very strange... :o...!

Cheers all...

F.... :'(...!

Edit: Buggar!....one "o" in "Losing"....LOL... ;D...!

OK. Please humour me. Fire up IE & try it. No need to exit Firefox as both browsers should run independently of each other.

What worries me, is that every now and again, Firefox insists on upgrading my Browser, even if I don't want it to... >:(...!

I think this is quite normal. Mine does the same & I'm using the latest version of Firefox. It doesn't change my home page but that's probably because I already have it set on Google.

PS. As an experiment I tried the Tools/Clear Private Data option in Firefox. Ticked the Cookies box & Hey Presto! it logged me out of this forum. :)

If all else fails, reboot your PC & try again.

I'm not sure what the point of logging out would be anyway. You are only actually logged in when you open the forum page. It means you have to manually log in next visit (needless typing). I've been logged in for months/years with no noticeable drawback.

Hello Pete...;)...!

I have other alternative Accounts which I use within the Sim V Forum, therefore I have to log out first, then log-in again with the alternative Account, to access the Posts, and my Mail....

Complicated, but it has worked for years... ;)...!

(It also prevents any visitors? from Posting on my Accounts, and accessing my Mail)...;)...!

The Sim V advice is: ALWAYS Log-Out when leaving the Forum.

Thanks to Doug's advice, it all works a treat now... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Many thanks, all...;)..!
