Steam name changing question

Postby machineman9 » Sun Feb 22, 2009 2:10 pm

I'm fairly new to Steam (only gotten Hitman 2 on it before) but I got some birthday money so I am getting The Orange Box and Garry's Mod for myself and my friend (for him it is as an early birthday present).

Anyway, we do have our own clan... Sorry Team SimV... But I am wondering how we set our online names to show up as that. Currently my Steam account name is 'machineman9'. How can I make it so that when on Steam games I play as TDVMachineMan?

Cheers

the new orange box engine takes your steam friends name and makes it your ingame name, you can change your name (not your login name) bu going into the settings

their is a command to change it ingame with the OB games, but i havent played anything on the OB in months and im afraid i cant remember it.

Hmm, well how about for my general Steam name and all that?

And one further thing:

My friend is installing the games onto C, but he wants to copy them to D (C and D... Acer... Always partioning). Would he be able to do this, or would the registry cause some problems?

all steam files must stay where steam puts them, so all games are inside the steam directory
