the first 2 rainbow six games are amazing! some real tactical shooting! realistic health system, none of this get shot and hide for ten seconds sucking your thumb and back to 100% health!
a big problem about the arcade feeling to games (GoW, BiA: HH, R6:Vegas) is that (i think and im quite sure) they are all based on an unreal engine, which is a very vast engine, alot can be done with it, but people are seeing what has been done, what worked for one game and using the same mechanics for their game (the whole 3rd person cover thing is so gay i hate it, especailay in vegas and BiA)
Now imagine how cool it would be to have a first person cover system, where you could not see infront of you when behind cover, you had to make a real choice as to when to pop your head up! an actual challenging game! vegas was not challenging at all, you just had to watch your enemy pop down, you pop up then when he comes back up you load a round into his face! fun but not introducing anything new! which is something i feel the game industry is lacking, no one tries anything new! its someone elses idea with a spin on it, a very retarded spin at that, and doesnt usualy work! and is largely why i do not hold any optimism for new games at the moment because its either an old idea ripped of, or an awesome new concept (spore for example) that is shot down to its lowest level so every can understand with minimal effort!
