Ideas from the Users

Postby ShaneG_old » Mon Jan 19, 2009 11:55 am

I would like to get some input from the users of the StudioV on how this year should proceed in here.

-Is there something you would like to see happen?

-Do we have too many comps?

-Do we not have enough comps?

-Would you like to see some special features, and if so, like what?

-Does anything need to go away?

-Does anything need to come back?

-Should I just leave well enough alone?

It's your StudioV, I just manage it, so let me know. :)

The weekly JC contests are fun. The screens of the month for each category should stay too.

Features:
Maybe more tutorials and/or guideline posts by certain people, giving hints and tips involving various techniques to use when taking shots.

I think some more attention is needed in the StudioV's Aviation Museum & Screenshot Atlas thread, up at the top.

Other than that, everything seems to be steady right now, but maybe have a slightly stronger focus on giving actual tutorials and tips.

I'd like some place with advice for taking screenshots, for the newer members in particular. More experienced members, and renowned (sp?) screenshot artists could provide tips and input.

I don't think we lack any contests. If anything, we've got too many, but no need to change further IMO :)

An odd request...how about an X-Plane section to the forum. Im a recent convert, mostly due to the homebuilt cockpit arena & a series of computer crashes, but a convert nonetheless.

The V is my home Id like to stick around ;)

I would still like to participate in the SS contests if at all possible :-*

How about we have a weekly challenge where people have to do a certain trick like what we have been doing with the Eiffle tower...

But to win they have to make it in the most artistic way possible.

Just a thought :D

I like the idea about the X-plane section. but remember there has to be popular support in order for it to work. if plenty of others here use x-plane, then I'm all for it. judging by what I've seen from from John's shots, x-plane is freakin' awesome

I think Studio V is fine the way it is. We don't need any more contests, however, it may be good to fish for tutorials from the users from time to time. :)

You must remember, this is primarily a MSFS site. I don't think X-Plane is popular enough here to earn its own board. There is always The Cage or Computer Games and Software to discuss X-Plane. ;)

Did you drop FSX and FS2004 completely ? How do you compare Xplane.  I've thought about trying it. How does it run and look compared to FS. Any reason why you couldn't post a few shots? If you do register on the Xplane forum be sure to let us know how to find you there.

Tutorials are always useful. From basic screenshot taking through to whatever level folk would like to see.

I think the balance of comp's is about right. It's a great friendly site.

I've mentioned to Clipper about a year ago that I'd like to see the Artists' Interviews (like the one Dave did a while back) make a comeback.

I also would like the Museum and the Atlas brought back to life. I believe that both have huge potential, though I think that it might be more interesting to have a Google Earth overlay for the atlas that is constantly updated with new screenshots. Like the 'Where are we from' tread, down in the Cafe. I do have some knowledge about creating overlays for Google Earth and I'd like to collaborate on such a project ...

The museum can also be very interesting.

Unfortunately these kind of efforts are usually created by popular demand and forgotten after a few months ...

+1 I would love to see the interviews back up.

The Studio is perfect the way it is. I personally have not participated in it for a long time because i am very busy lately.
