has anyone got some good methods for this? i am thinking of making an edit but this is the thing that moves it from a good image into a better one... the seamless cut
lets assume i have GIMP for this... im downloading it at the moments

The pen tool is the most precise way to select a subject. After that it's all about layers and layer masks ..... which unless you have photoshop or paintshop you won't have to worry about them.
