Blending

Postby Double_Farvel » Sat Feb 24, 2007 11:10 am

Can anyone share with me methods of blending other than dodge and burn? I try to dodge and burn but I still cannot manage to get things to blend well.

uhmm, well i would never use dodge and burn for blending. I just play with Hue/Saturation/Brightness/Contrast. If you just fiddle with those levels you should be able to get anything to blend :)

I'm not very good at blending, but what I do is fiddle with the levels first in the layer with the cut out plane only to try to make it match as well as possible. Then all other alterations are made with the layers joined in one picture so the plane gets the same treatment as the rest. Dodging and  burning helps, but my technique currently is to plaster the shot with so many different lighting, brushing and other effects, including cloning the background on very high opacity over the plane.... that somehow it gets 'buried' in the shot.

It does look rather overdone though, and I'm sure there are better ways  :)
