EDIT THIS ENTRY - #Cobra#

Postby Cobra » Tue Feb 20, 2007 8:09 am

I went for the comic book one, as i hope you can see ;D Anyways, hope you enjoy...certainly took long enough, and 45+ layers :o Fairly pleased with how it turned out, but theres only a certain amount of time one can devote to such things, so in the end just had to upload as is...there are some tweaks I would like to make in an ideal world...

     Image

***Im actually a bit frustrated here, i had to save it in photoshop with a quality setting of 2 to get it down to under 100kb, and its looks shite ( i normally save at quality setting of 11 or something!) *** Any ideas?

:o

To retain a lower file size and not loosethat much quality you could save the image as a GIF 8-)

You can re-save and re-post it as a gif if you like. Might re-size it a bit too to comply
with the 800 x 600ish rule. 100k would be nice, but don't knock yourself out... ;) Rules., rules, rules.... ::)

ha, sorry Clipper. I had actually never noticed the 600px height rule on the forums! It was below 100k though :-*

Anyways, re-uploaded...its smaller now so the quality isnt an issue. LOL I feel like a total 'noob' asking, but how do you save as a GIF, I couldnt manage it in PS?

I like this one it looks alot more "real" than most of the others...like an issue you actually might get in the mail.

Very nice, Cobes!  ;D

I wouldn't worry about the compression too much. I've seen a lot worse. One thing though: it's spelled 'Italian'.  ;)

BTW. I thought all uploaded images must be in .jpg format. Can we also upload .gif pictures now?

My sig image is an animated GIF. I've used it for several years now but I'm not sure GIF format would be any advantage over JPEG for this sort of thing. :-/

PS. That's a very nice piece of work Cobra. :o

Cobra, to save as a gif, download Irfanview and then save your image and select GIF. ;) Or there is some sort of way in PS I believe...  :)

As I said before, I don't see the benefit. :-/

When I first saved my sig image as a JPEG, I had to bump the quality very far down to get it under 100kb, but when I saved it as a GIF, suprosingly the quality was better and it was under 30kb (unusual for a GIF; usually the quality isn't as good as a JPEG but under these circumstances it turned out better ;))

Cheers for all the help with the whole GIF thing, certainly will help in future! Think i might give it a miss this time though, since i made it smaller the quality seems fine :D
