Photoshop question

In photoshop for morph editing, is there any easier way to cut out than using the lasso?

You can also use the magic wand tool, but i find that if you have a background where the plane is a similar color, it will select parts of your plane to cut out aswell! And that means you have to do some manual rubbing out along the edges of the 'craft. If that happens it's best to use the magnetic lasso tool...

I use the polygonal lasso tool for most cut out jobs, it gives really nice tidy edges...though at times they can be slightly solid. I find it the quickest way. The best way is the eraser but it would literally take me 2 hours to cut out an AC properly with it.

I used to use the magic wand tool, and to be honest wouldnt recomend it. It gives really nasty rough edges even when the backround is a uniform colour...which is rarely the case.

Hate cutting stuff out though, worst part of photoshop

I normally just free hand it all, I guess ive got a steady hand Magic wand to tool can be useful but also at times, a pain in the arse

over the past year that ive been useing photoshop for all sorts of things, ive used the lasso tools, and things but the best way is the erasor. a few pixels in size, 1600% magnification, and get deleting. it gives the best cut out. but it is very time consumeing.

If you ask me, that's not much different to using the polygonal lasso.

My method, instead of trying to cut it all out in one, like with the pen tool method, is to duplicate the layer, then delete most of the background behind the aircraft. I then go round the aircraft in sections, deleting everything but what I want left as I go along. The good thing is, if I go majorly wrong, I can just go back a step and select the right section again.

The advantage of using the pen tool over the polygonal lasso tool is that you can bend the selection lines if you want to. You can also delete any of the selection (anchor) points if you feel you made a mistake. And the selection doesn't suddenly close when you double-click by accident.  ;D
