Focus And Detailing..How's yours?

Postby Clipper » Sat Aug 12, 2006 5:22 am

[size=18][font=times]Have you ever looked at someone's screenshot and thought to yourself "That pic is so crisp and detailed, I wish I could get those results when I take a shot?" Well, why don't you post a pic or two and let's see how detailed and sharp your images can be (or can't be). Then we'll evaluate your pics and help you determine what's needed to move to the next level of focus and detailing.

Which of these two images do you prefer?

Or This One?

This focus change required 1 click only, although the resulting image is considered an "edited pic". Know how it's done?

Done with Irfanview, just click Image then Sharpen in the dropped  down menu.. ;) Keep in mind your pic becomes edited once you do this..

I still prefer the first one.....In my opinion sharpening the picture makes it look a bit less lifelike, which i don't particularly want to do.

Mic, the pic is excellent just the way you took it. The object of this thread is to offer the alternatives everyone has in enhancing focus in a screenshot. It's definately not something that would suit every pic, as you've indicated here, with your preference being the original pic.  :)

The first!!!!

In te second one where everything is focussed it look unnatural...

To illustrate my point..

Hold your pointing finger 20 cm's in front of your face and focus your view on it. the background isn't so sharp now is it? Now focus on the background and your finger blurs...

But the first one is all in focus too, it's just a soft image.

I don't think so actually.. to me the plane is sharp enough... mainly due to the textures.. if you look at the sharpened pic  near the tail... the sharpening actually makes it jaggy.

I must admit looking at them again that I prefer the water in the second one, but I prefer the plane from the first.
