Nice set.  Here's what one looks like.  I took some of her when she landed at Nampa Mun about 12 miles from my house: http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb25/Ya ... 1322085932

"Captain ? I've got some music on the radio for you..."  8-)

I just love flying this big bird. And when the radio starts playing some cool vintage music, it become one of the best sim experiences ever (for me). The B-17 is just perfect for crossing the PNW areas for example.

Great shots Bass, especially the second one.

It's funny to hear these old radio transmissions. But honnestly, everytime it's a speech, I'm a bit dissappointed. I prefer when it's music. Flying this bird while listening to that old music is something special. Immersion, that's the word.

Well, it were the first time i turned on the radio for that, and i must say, i looked at my clock, asked the wife what date it is and turned my eyes to the window, just to place where i was in my flying :o
Astonish is my word.

For the first time i got a fire in engine 2. Now thats a problem.
I turned of fuel aso and did a dive to turn it off. (Saw that in THE movie). Success.
Then a fire in engine 3 but now i'm too low!
Turned that one off and made it back with 2 engines!
Luck i werent that far away.
Scary as hell. Dont want to hear the crew screaming (they will if we are crashing) :o

Engine fire ?Did you forget to assign the cowl flaps and intercoolers controls to your copilot ? I do that everytime. And I keep an eye on the temperatures nevertheless, sometimes I have to lower the RPMs a bit to let the engine cool down for a while. Happens sometimes after or during a climb.

But once I'm set at 25.000 feet on cruise, the engine temps are not a problem anymore. The only real problem I had once was a broken cylinder on engine 4. I didn't notice it until I got in the maintenance hangar after reaching the parking. I suppose my descent was too fast and engine 4 suffered from shock cooling.

Another problem I had, last winter, is that I could not take off anymore during my tests in Norway. The weather was too cold and the engines refuse to accelerate. Then someone explained me that I had to set the turbo wheel to 7 or 8 for takeoff, because my carb temps were much too low, preventing the engine to produce enough power.
