Tail Dragger Delights!...

Postby Fozzer » Mon Apr 02, 2012 5:21 am

FS 2004.

Stevensville (32S) in upper Montana amongst the Bitterroot Mountain range, in my never-ending exploring mood!

Image

Like all "Tail-wheelers", my newly modified Cessna 150 Aerobat tail wheel conversion, requires considerable delicacy when manoeuvring on the ground, to prevent the dreaded; "ground-loop"... ;)...!

Note to self...
"Stop, and think, before changing direction"!.... ;D...!

She makes an interesting alternative to my normal "Tricycle" arrangements....and she is very pretty, in her new configuration!

Paul...FS 2004...G-BPLF... ;D...!

P.S...I must remember to check the tyre pressures before take off!.... :-[...!

Looks like a nice place to explore !
It's the same kind of landscape that I usually look for when I'm about to test a small prop plane. In FSX, the OrbX PNW area is mostly made of this kind of landscapes, and this is really great for low and slow.

I know you didn't really appreaciate FSX as much as you love FS9, but if (and only if) your FSX is still somewhere on your harddrive, you might want to give a small try to the OrbX freeware PNW demo which covers the Olympic peninsula west of Seattle. It's a nice piece of land to explore with a slow plane, like the freeware JustFlight Cessna 152 for example :)

Paul do you ever fly a different aircraft? ::) :D
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

Nice shot Paul.. Is that with the bloom on?

Yep....

Bloom is on in its default mode.

I am constantly trying to replicate the bright appearance of the countryside, on a clear blue sky, Mid-Summer day!

I don't know what it is, but this; "Bloom" effect, seems to enhance that appearance!

(I am more concerned with it affecting the scenery, rather than the Aircraft).

Paul... :)...!

P.S....I do have that ORB X Pacific North West (Bowerman) Scenery demo installed. I'll give it a try, but my Hardware doesn't handle my FSX very well, with my preferred (very high!) settings, which is the reason why I use FS 9! (With all its settings at Max!).... ;)...!

...only two, Hype... ;)...

Beech Baron 58...and Cessna 150/152's....most of the time!.... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

And of course you are well aware that the maxed-out settings of FS9 are equivalent to middle-to-low settings in FSX, right ? ;)
Given your love to low and slow, I believe the Bowerman scenery (and mountains to the north) desserve a flight or two, with carefully set graphical options.

I constantly do scenery comparisons using my FS 2004 and FSX.
My FS 2004 with my various Payware and Freeware Scenery add-ons, with all my settings maxed, runs smoothly locked at 25 FPS, and running at 24.8 FPS.
My FSX with similar settings, over the same scenery, judders along at a crippling 2-5 FPS. Its NOT a very enjoyable experience!

Note: My add-ons are simply added to my default fS 2004.
My FSX SP1-SP2 has never spent countless days, weeks, months, years of tinkering with Nick N's, Jesus', etc, cfg modifications...
...life is far too short!...
..I just want to pop into the cockpit...and fly...(or pretend to)... ;)...!

Paul....FS 2004 + FSX...choices... ;)...!

Dell Tower.
Pentium 4, Dual Core, 2.8 GHz.
nVidia GF 9500GT 1 GB. PCIe.
320 Watt PSU.
2X Sata HDD's.
Fine for FS 2004...Naff for FSX!

Fozzer, you really need to start flying different planes & tell different jokes. ;D

I think a P-35 Bonanza would be good for you. ;)

They are all the same to me, Andy... ;)...!

...just a suitable means of exploring the countryside around me from the air, instead of on the ground, on my Motor-bike... 8-)...!

A flying device...with wings...and a big cooling fan up at the front!... :)...!
