Someone who shall remain unnamed (You know who you are!) commented in my Superbug photoshoot thread about a 4G inverted dive with a MiG-28 from Top Gun, and I just couldn't resist!
This is of course the wonderful DSB F5E Tiger II, painted in the entirely fictional MiG-28 colours from Top Gun. Anybody who has any small amount of russian fighter jet knowledge knows that Mikoyan-Greguvich (MiG) fighters are all numbered unevenly.
FUN FACT! The US Navy did actually repaint several T-38 Talons (The Trainer version of the F5 Tiger) to this scheme for the movie, and I do believe one of them is on display at Miramar Naval Air Station, at the entrance to the TOP GUN Fighter Training School.
"Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider 2-0-3, this is Mustang. I have a bogey inbound on vectors 0-8."
"Mustang this is Ghost Rider, I have him on 0-8"
"You were in a 4G Negative dive with a MiG-28?"
"Yes Ma'am."
"What were you doing there?"
"Keeping up foreign relations. Giving him the bird."
"The bird?"
"Y'know, the finger?"
"Yes, I know what the bird is Goose."
"I'm-I'm sorry, I hate it when it does that..."
"Get that bastard away from the carrier!"
"He's breaking off and bugging out!"
