Smokes On II

Postby zulumike » Tue Jul 13, 2010 4:59 pm

This is the Zlin-50 Red Bull Aerobatic Team Package freeware provided by SimV.
I always like to watch an aerobatic plane go vertical up full power with smoke and then hang on the prop (torque turn) and then power back dropping throught the smoke and finally falling back into a inverted flat spin. This aircraft was a good download.
Thanks for looking. Cheers, Mike ;)

Sweet shots!!!  ;) I also loved watching that! Does this plane do that specific maneuver well? The default extra doesn't work too well for me!!!  >:(

The Zlin seems to be a little better on vertical power than the Extra. Its hard to do a lot of manuevers with just a joystick. Ideally in simulation, I think you need foot pedals to coordinate full rudder for snap rolls, hammerhead, and the lomcevak ........There are good videos on YouTube showing aerobatics.
What I like about this model is that it puts out a heavy smoke exhaust
and you can get some interesting effects with the smoke.
Cheers, Mike ;)

The second shot looks really good, thanks to the smoke effect that is, for once, very well placed and looks even quite realistic.

I believe there is a very excellent photoreal repaint somewhere for that Zlin (that's the Tim Conrad's one, right ?). You should investigate ;)

Thanks Daube for your commits. I checked out Tim Conrad's Zlin, very nice texture & paint but hardly no smoke. I have checked out the other Sukhoi's and Extra's; but no comparison to smoke output as this Zlin.

I added a screenshot showing ultimate smoke.
Cheers, Mike ;)

This is a blast to do while in tower view, although a little hard to keep control of times.

A lovely plane as well.  :)
