My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Thanx....  :)

My only complaint so far, are the sounds.. but I went and got the 'Turboprop Simulations'  sound package (more expensive than the C-130..  :D  )

I have been eyeballing that C-130 for a while, and missed the sale today.  Is it everything it promises to be?  I know it is still pretty cheap for payware, but bills come first.

I loved this aircraft when I had the base package.....I love it even more with the expansions (RAF Mk4...yay)

It's a brilliant thing to chuck about through the Welsh hills....and a bit more challenging than a hawk or tornado :D

Great pics as well Brett...love that USCG scheme :)

I also took advantage of this deal (1/3 price for the entire package!!!)

I had the FS9 Captain Sim C-130 and I find that it's a bit more realistic than the FSX herc as far as starting it up, but I am not disappointed, she flies like a herc, sounds like a herc, and looks like a herc!

Great shots too Brett!

For those knowledgable about the C-130. Is 290knots (IAS) cruising speed normal for this plane? I was just wondering because I been flying a single prop 4 seater that reached close to that speed easily and wondered why the bigger C-130 with 4 bigger props was maxing out at the same speeds as a small single prop plane. Should I think truck and motorcycle? I bought the boxed version from Just Flight last year.

Any particular gripe with the start-up systems? I have the Just Flight manual for the FS2004 Herc, and the FSX Herc starts up in the exact same manner.

No gripes, I just know with my FS9 version I couldn't use the instant one button start.  With the FSX I can just push the button and they fire up.  It's nice and quick and easy.

8-) Sounds about right, she's big and powerful, but she just lumbers across the sky in no particular hurry to get anywhere.  It took us over 12 hours to fly from San Diego to Hawaii in one, if that gives you any clue  ;D

Thanks for the info...I can now stop wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I always thought that this plane being used in the military was built for long hauls. I now consider it my favorite and biggest bush flying plane.  8-)

It took me around 5 hours to get from Fort Knoks, IL. to Port Angeles, WA. Though it was a slow trip, I really appreciated the flight in the end and making a good landing was very important (didn't come all this way just to screw up). And the autopilot kept me involved with the plane throughout the whole trip (no going to watch TV).

BTW. I was wondering what's the best way to use the autopilot? I usually set the height and steer manually.

Depends on the flight: Altitude hold lowers the workload the most. Heading hold is nice, but if there isn't a lot of gusting wind.. the airplane is pretty stable.

The airspeed hold is cool..  You can set power for climb, and it will hold a desired climb-speed.  It's NOT  a throttle-based airspeed hold.. so cruising speed is set manually.. It uses pitch to control the airspeed.. so it's good for stable climbs/descents..
