Do you know your Virtual Cockpit??

Postby pfevrier » Fri May 14, 2010 1:20 pm

Think of it as a little friendly competition between fellow simviation members. No grand prize for the winner, just the recognition of other simmers.
8 different VCs, 8 different aircrafts. The first one to give the names of all 8 aircrafts wins  :D

Ok so far...

1- Saab Safir is correct (sibwings)
2- P51B is correct (warbird sim)
3- F105 Thunderchief is correct (alphasim)
4- SBD Dauntless is correct (Vertigo sim)
5- ... is still up for grabs!  :D keep looking!
6- Avro Vulcan (IRIS). That one was easy with those real small windows  :)
7- C5M Galaxy (Area 51)
8- Boeing 727 (Captain Sim)

Man, this was a lot quicker than I thought, you guys are good. But #5 is the tough one  8-)

Congratulations to wafu448 for finding the answer to #5! it was the Westland Lysander by FSaddon. The Lysander is a great STOL plane from WW2 that was used for observation and ferrying clandestine agents between England and France at nighttime during full moons. They would use maps and the moon light to recognize landmarks and navigate all the way from England to France and back. If anyone is interested I would strongly suggest you look up "We landed by moonlight" by Hugh Verity, one of the great pilots of the outfit that flew those clandestine missions.

Congratulations to everyone for playing!
