Freeware scenery addon: MUST SEE!!!!!

Postby Speed of flight » Sun Apr 11, 2010 1:14 pm

So I was goofin one day on youtube, and saw something I wanted to try out. I have been messin with FSX since the day it hit shelves, and never saw this before! As this is freeware, and VERY impressive, I needed to do my duty for the community, and share what I found with you all. I was SO overtaken by the quality of this. Please find it and get it! You will NOT be disappointed. Here are a few screens:

Impressive!

There's little towns in here, too, and I'll try to get a pic of one.

So much detail...

Here's the border between the generic FSX stuff and the add-on:

And another:

This is the area it covers. It's HUGE, and can be explored for DAYS! I've not seen all of it yet.

Here's a sample of the Grand Canyon stuff. Easy on the frames, as well.

Fly from KEDW (Edwards Air Force Base) in California, USA and fly a heading of 038 or so, and there it is! I had a minor problem getting it to add using the scenery library in FSX, but I worked around it. Just copy and paste the Scenery and Texture files from the addon, to the add on scenery and texture folders in your FSX root directory.

Their goal is to make the add-on WORLD free! I have to get back in there. Look at all they've got! For those of you Aussies, this is something for you to be very excited about! If you already know about it, spread the word! See you out there!

I've been flying around looking at it, and I've not seen anything quite like it. I can't help but imagine that this is how test pilots in the 50s and 60s saw this land. It looks so great. Wide open spaces, mountains, desert, valleys, seasonal streams, wow. Everyone should get this and at least look for a bit. The generic FSX scenery leaves a lot to be desired for this area, and this will DEFINITLEY put it's charms on for you. Even a place so barren has a beauty all its own. I live in Sacramento, CA, and hope to ride the ol' harley around there sometime.

I can't believe this is FREEWARE.  I am downloading it as I type this.  I can't wait to fly through this.  I have been looking for some good grand canyon scenery and looks like I found it.

I've had this for a while now. The detail is amazing. Now you have made me want to go fly there again.

Yup, have had the grand canyon scenery for a while now, but have yet to get death valley. Will give that one a go.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.
