Patchz, you must try it !

Postby Daube » Sat Apr 03, 2010 10:18 am

This topic is a non-subliminal, totally explicit message to force Patchz to try the Section F8 Sabre :)

First, the master piece of the plane, the virtual cockpit. It's very interactive, the plane can be operated completely from the vc. The checklists and docs are provided, and you will need to read them if you want to understand how to start the engine :)

Then some shots to show the very detailled external model. In fact, it's as detailled as the model from Kirk Olsson, but the photoreal textures are more crisp.

Is it FSX native or an FS9 bird? If its FS9, does it work well?

http://sectionf8.com/ I'm not sure what sim it's native to, but it's available in both

Thanks Thud!

Daube, at least half of my highest-quality and most favourite FSX addons were suggested by you. Thanks so much! (This includes bloom, the mountain texture fix, aerotow and CumulusX, the 50 photoreal textures for the Mustang... And much more).

Ok Daube, I'm convinced. But I have a ton of stuff to do before I can start downloading new aircraft. I don't even have 25% of my planes or scenery installed yet. Just give me a little uh some time, aw heck, it's gonna be a while.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

To get this bird to run in FSX, do I just need the Base Pack and the FSX Update?

Just read the 'readme' for the FSX update - think I'll wait for the true FSX model they're working on  :).

Hi all,

Sorry for the late answer, it's saturday night and the call of the sushi was too strong for me  ;D
Anyway, before I go to sleep, I'll try to answer the few questions here:

- the Section F8 Sabre is, for now, a FS9 plane. A native FSX version was being mentionned by the Section F8 guys back in time, but we never had any news since then.

- as mentionned above, there are some patches to make it FSX SP2 compatible, in DirectX9 mode only of course

- I do not remember the exact sequence to install the plane, I installed it a long time ago. However, I clearly remember that there was a readme explaining precisely the install procedure, and it had to be followed very carefully. One of the steps was to execute some exe file that was converting the textures of the plane, for example.

- after the installation, the plane works very well in FSX SP2, and the checklist to start the engine is quite challenging.

- I think I remember a problem with performance, but this was solved by disabling the smoke effect of the plane.

- I think there was also a little problem with the radios, but I'm not sure. During my flight, I could communicate with the ATC through the ATC window, but I didn't try to manipulate the radio in the cockpit...

Hehehe, I still have some good recommendations for airplanes or general addons. If you need, just specify a theme, and I'll provide ideas ;)
