Speaking as a neophite, I've found that getting the largest image that'll fit while still at "pause" arranging the shot, helps me retain some resolution while downsizing to the forum 150KB requirement.

Try resizing it too 600X800 pixels.

you have to an actual "resize" for example via photobucket.
Cropping is considered an edit.
