Engineless!!! Two extremes in sailplane design

Postby Ivan » Sun Jan 31, 2010 6:00 am

From minimalistic modern hang-gliders to extremely complicated vintage wonders.... there is a sailplane for everyone

Complicated Vintage... The Horten Ho-IV, predecessor of the B-2

And a very simple modern hang glider

Altimeter, speedo and a large VSI... what else do you need.

Takeoff! It will only takeoff on a downward slope, but its really funny to see the guy running to get airborne.
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV[/ur

They made an animation to make the guy run while the "plane" rolls down the slope ? That's cool, I have to try that !
Very nice shots by the way. I love the view from the HangGlider.

The Horton is a lot of fun. But I haven't seen that particular hang glider before. What model is it?
Nice shots btw.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

The first one looks very unstable to me with the short fuselage. Interesting compilation!
