Actually, I have found that if I press F4, I get moe power than with just full throttles on my stick. Then I have enough power to really take off.

I guess in my first test, only the first engine was switched on. Then I had not enough power to leave the ground effect.

I was watching a couple of you-tube vides on the WIGs, and the two front engines look like they provide the initial "lift" cushion of air.  The front cluster of engines on the Caspian Sea Monster looked like they had some sort of deflector the would direct the exhaust downwards towards the leading edges of the wings. 

On some of the smaller ones, you can see them actually lift off of the ground before they barely start moving.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
