Heading Out...

Postby Ravang » Tue Jul 07, 2009 8:26 am

I know I don't have much of a chance here as my laptop doesn't support any AA whatsoever and it doesn't support very high texture filtering, hence the blurries, but I really love flying in Alaska so I gave it all I could...

I know the graphics aren't very good, its not some crazy angle, the weather and clouds aren't some amazing mix of different layers, and its not a super hi-def "I can't believe its not flight sim!" shot.

Fly2e said "True to life" so here is a typical morning with real-world weather.

Cool scenery! Reminds me of the series "Deadliest Catch" on DMAX  ;)

A very nice shot!  The composition and mood is very nice.

my laptop doesn't support any AA whatsoever and it doesn't support very high texture filtering

Do you mean that your laptop CANNOT do this, or that you don't get decent FPS when using said options?

I don't use AA in my normal flying, and only use bilinear filtering.  However, when I take screenshots, I turn everything up and damn the FPS!

By pretty, I meant that FS models all look like they're fresh out of the paint shop so look a little out of place in a scenario like your shot.

Oh, I have noticed that a lot of FS planes are way to clean and shiny. This Beaver shocked me because its got a used look, and its a default aircraft. No mucking about with a ton of repaints to find that "used" look.

Most of the time in the sim, I either fly a Super Cub w/ 32' tundra wheels, or a Beaver on with skis/wheels. Wheels for takeoff, then lower the skis for landing up in the mountains.

Other than a slight weight penalty, the wheelski combo is the way to go.

What I'm hoping to get is a Part 135 (Air Taxi, Tours, and Lodge Service) job up in Alaska. I've been talking to Paul Claus of Ultima Thule Lodge, AK and he said to go and get all the time and ratings you can, because your experience is what matters when they look to hire pilots in Alaska.
