I Find My first Toy (I love this one..HumbleTIPS!)

Postby Alejandro Rhodes » Mon Jun 22, 2009 10:08 pm

Well, I haven't flown any more until yesterday,my good friend SubZero Put the Puzzle together (Posky shouldn't complicate things that much you know? I couldn't fix it for my self)
I always in FS2004 Fly the B777 , was always my default plane , then days ago I saw this incredible VC just One shot ,which Impress me a lot ,though I was looking the point of the iceberg ..

I load the plane ,and It take a long time ,.
I have a couple tips ,I change every single texture for FSX from Bmpo to DDS dtx5, why because everytime you load a Bmp inside FSX it will have to Flip it first because in the case you didn'''t know this software works upsidedown, but not in BMP it does in DDS
Also DDS maps are smaller ,so I change from see loading each map in the fuselage to and instant Load :)
second ,the frames when UP (not too much) after change the textures
and third which was the worse in the night there is this horrible glass Imposible to see the outside well in the night ,I went into Aircraft.cfg and I wipe out the VC light

[lights]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

light.0 = 1, 28.5, 0, 12.4, Opensky_beacon
light.1 = 1, 4.75, 0, -9, Opensky_beacon
light.2 = 3,

So finally you have installed the Posky 777 in your FSX hangar ? Glad to see you've managed to get it working. The 777 sits in my FSX hangar since quite a while, but this BMP to DDS modification sounds interesting.
How did you convert ? Did you just use the "save as" in DXTBMP, or did you have to flip them upside down first ? No modifications needed for the Alpha Channel ?

No Daube  :o You should never Use DTXBmp software to convert DDS files ,

Grab the textures and Find the FSX-SDK imagetool.exe ,the FS9-SDK imagetool doesn't work either , it has to be the one that come in the FSX SDK , drop each file select image/format then compress to DXT5 and save one by one.(including those small images that are light maps (XX_L) that looks like a thumbernail Yes they all have to be DDS at DTX5
,this is a tedious Job I might be working  using a *.bat file and Imagetool.exe from the FSX -sdk, to create a software that grab all the files and convert them all into DTX5 DDS,
But don't ever use the DTXBmp to compress to a dds ,this software doesn't work in DDS format well . I learned a long time ago and that's one of the million things Bill Leaming tough me

DXTBMP.exe v4.00.96

Martin still does not have DXT5 compression working properly. I use the nVidia plugin for Photoshop myself, although I do believe that Imagetool.exe FSX version does create better compressed DXT5 images. :)

Thanks Bill, I always find a little bit hard to convince people ,I know none of the DTXBmp doesn't work to compress dds format,that why of the good IMAGETOOL(fsx)as for the rest like alpha works etc is my primary software
