Across the english channel (LHR-CDG)...

Postby FlyingPerson » Sun Jun 14, 2009 4:25 pm

... in what else than a jet aircraft? You should know my type-of-aircraft routines by now. :P But at least i'm flying a baby bus now! The A318 is so cool :D

One of my favorite takeoff angles.

Image

Climbing to 25,000 feet over the United Kingdom.

Image

Over the english channel.

Image

Closing in on France (A lot of it cropped away due to blurry ground + some small jaggies on the belly of the 318 due to compression :S)

Image

On approach to runway 09L.

Image

One of my best landings in quite a while.. ALMOST bang on the centerline.

Image

And last but not least, AF showing Air Transat and Cathay Pacific who is the main airline at CDG. :o

Fantastic set of shots!
Also liking #1 the best! 8-)

Question though: Were you going overspeed in #4 by any chance? ;)

Cheers,
Carl

Nah, I wasn't going overspeed, but I had to descend kind of quickly, so I put the descent rate to 2000 fpm, and at the same time, I wanted it to slow from 240 to 200 knots, so I had to use the speed brakes. It worked after a few minutes :D

My flaps were set correctly, but every Airbus except the A380 has tiny flaps, so you can't tell it from being 1 or 20-30.

I'm not really great with approaches or glideslopes yet, that's why the VASI lights weren't cooperating. But the touchdown was at approximately 146 knots and smooth as silk (Thai Airways ripoff :P)
