Back to Square One

Postby ShaneG_old » Tue Jun 09, 2009 6:33 am

I had to do an entire system reinstall yesterday, Windows and all. :-[

Which means that the last two years worth of tweaking and adjusting to my sims is gone.

So after installing each, I thought I would grab a couple of shots in their default state, to compare to later. ;)

Using realworld weather & time.

As much as I dreaded doing it, it was worth it. My sims are so much smoother at the moment, and this time around, my FSX install will remain FS9 addon free. ;) Only 'True' FSX material is going in.

Let the new journey begin. :)

Some time ago, I had contracted a trojan, (it was sneaky enough to get by AVG, Spybot, Malwarebytes, and Adaware. :o :-[)

At first it totally wiped out my IE & windows search, and then spread out from there.

I had to use Google Earth's web browser feature to get on the internet to download and install firefox, which worked ok for a while, but yesterday finally fell victim to the virus.

So with no way remaining to log on to the web, I did the deed.

Moral of the story:  Make sure you trust the site you get your FS addons from. :-[ ;)

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Dam!!!  What a bummer. It happened to me also back about two years ago. What a job getting back to normal. I now scan everything I download. Also have most everything backed up on a 1000GB external hard drive.
