....in Hindsight...

Postby Fozzer » Fri May 15, 2009 4:07 am

...now you all know my feelings towards those unflyable, self rotating, Whirly-Birds, called "Helicopters".... >:(...!

Well...

Just for a try-out, following the thread in the "Real Aviation" Forum showing the Hind Mi-24v, I downloaded it....and it flies marvellously without that constant insistence of revolving around itself until it disappear up a very dark place... :o...!

May be something to do with a very well designed, user friendly, Aircraft File?

Also...for the terrified trainee, it is fitted with a retractable undercarriage (with wheels) so that it can be landed safely whilst still rolling!....none of those nasty Skids to tip you over!

So, there you go. Maybe I could get encouraged to actually like Helicopters*... ::)...!

Parked at Livermore (KLVK) to the delight of the on-lookers... :-*...!

FS 2004...(as usual)... ;).....>>>>

One of my all time favorite Addons! 8-)

You've got her looking good, being admired by your friendly Californians. :)

I believe the air file for this one came from Baron 58. ;) ;D

I just noticed that your first pic has two 'gas' stations.

One for the plane, and one for the pilot! ;D ;)

Your screenshots are so much fun! Lots of life and activity. 8-)

Hehe, be carefull Fozzer, piloting helicopters can become very addictive, especially helicoters with nice virtual cockpits like this one.
I like this helicopter a lot too, because it is stable and fast, but not so powerfull. I've been trying recently to fly it in the Himalaya moutains, in this zone which is next to Pakistan and where some nice military airports can be installed.... well that's very high altitude and getting over the mountain tops with this machine can be VERY challenging  :o

..... ;D....!

...as regard speed, it is certainly a lot slower than my trusty Cessna C150_v2.... :'(...!

I can squeeze <140 knots out of my little Cessna, but the Hind struggles to maintain 100/110 Knots in level flight (wheels up)... :o...!

...otherwise, its certainly very stable, (as Helicopters go!), once off the ground....

...which is nice... :-*...!

Paul...G-BPLF..FS 2004....reasonably stable?... ::).. ;D...!

Great shots Paul! Once you get used to that, you should graduate to the payware Nemeth Bros. Hind!   :D ;)

I can squeeze <140 knots out of my little Cessna, but the Hind struggles to maintain 100/110 Knots in level flight (wheels up)

One note: With helicopters, at high airspeeds you should generally be flying in a nose-low attitude. Other than that, I was cruising earlier today in my Hind model just fine between 140-150 knots!
