What are you using for your lighting in #2? That cant be default.

I have Real Environment Pro installed and it adds a little better lighting then the default.  The main thing that caused the lighting to look so odd was the contrast on my graphics card was set a little to high at that point, since then its been adjusted to a more reasonable level

I love the last shot. Very good mix of colors.
