The guy asks for help and he gets a thread full of people repeating a variant of a joke over and over, wearing it out without providing assistance.

::)

Then there was the party pooper...

Simviation is first and foremost a family friendly site.

Recently, it has degraded into a party for young kids and their barrage of images titled "Fail" and emoticon spam.

There was also a collapse of integrity, to the point that the swear filter was removed for some unclear reason.

SimV has seen better days than this thread. Sure, you may think its harmless fun, but in reality, the thread was filled with drug references from top to bottom, denying the thread creator the answer that he was looking for.

A1's joke was harmless fun. The others who commented on it, may that comment have been a worthless string of smilies or some variant of the joke, contributed nothing.

There is, I would say, a proper way to handle a situation like this.

Research the topic. If you can find nothing to contribute to the question, just laugh off the joke to yourself and don't bother adding smilies to the thread. If you can find something worthwhile, quote the joke, give it a LOL and then post your findings regarding the subject.

I could not agree more!  Bein' a short-timer around here I almost find it apalling that members could have the ability to.............

............make me miss the days of my youth when jaunting through a cow pasture shortly after sunrise was a some-time hobby!

I stand ashamed that I am even associated with such locker-room juvinility!

ONE MORE THING!    ;D :D ;D

OKAY!  All that aside.....

I had the same thing happen to me a while back when I FUBAR'd some sky texture(s) I was attepting to tweak.  I'll have to ask our resident PC guru at work 'cause I can't remember what the exact fix was; but it had to do with the red-green-blue mixing like when "old" style CRT televisions went on the fritz.
The way you have your sky textures tweaked is not allowing r-g-b mixing.  So they "segregate" from each other instead of blend like they should.

I'll ask him next time I see him and hopefully have a CONSTRUCTIVE suggestion for ya soon.

As far as the rest of ya.....we oughta be ashamed of ourselves!

At least for a half-minute or so! ;)

I'm not exactly sure, but I think this occurs when the texture is not in the right format or doesn't have properly a properly configured Alpha.

Some people encountered this upon trying to install FS Skyworld 2004 (I think) in FSX. I don't know how to fix it.

I had that same problem. I could never understand the reason for it. Perhaps the BMP format, 24 or 32 bits, could be problematic ?
