Virgin Atlantic Flight 32 - Gatwick - St. Maarten

Postby FlyingPerson » Sat Apr 04, 2009 5:47 pm

Here you see Virgin Atlantic doing a special charter flight with one of their A340-600s. I know the Simubuild A340-500/600 models are bad, but they're the only freeware 345s and 346s available. I just couldn't wait with this flight, but i'll be getting the CLS 340s soon.

Anyway, here's the shots.

One dangerous takeoff out of Gatwick - The 340 was heavy and the runway 8 was short, bad combination - had to use a LOT of the taxiway behind. Luckily there was no aircraft or humans or cars there, only this guy that was nearly blown over as he grabbed this one:

'Cruising along over the Atlantic at FL400. (Getting this thing to anything higher than FL310 is one heck of a job ::))

Wingview from the Virtual Cabin as we ran into some bad clouds and rain on our descent. The huge Rolls Royce Trent 556's sucking in rain.

And finally, after about 7-8 hours in the air, Virgin 32 "Cover Girl" lands smooth as silk on runway 9.

A mechanic took this photo as we stopped at Gate 2.

Hope you enjoyed. I will probably do a round-the-world trip during eastern, so my next flights will be to Los Angeles on a American 772ER, Los Angeles-Sydney on a Qantas A380, something to Hong Kong then Hong Kong to Arlanda on a SAS A343, then Arlanda to Gatwick on a BA A320.

Doesnt look too bad to me. I'd get it. I like the virtual cabin shot.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Great shots!!

I like #1 because I can see a FCA paint and I like the shot with the Union Jack  (I shall call it) on it  :)

Thanks guys! # 1 was really my favorite too. I'm doing another special flight now, TNCM - KLAX, but instead of the American 772ER, i'm doing it in a TAM 773ER. But FSX cut out on me suddenly and it's 11 PM here now, so i'll be doing the remaining 7-8 hours of the flight tomorrow, then catch a Qantas A380 over the pacific down to YSSY, then most likely a Cathay Pacific A330-300/A340-300 to Hong Kong, Scandinavian A343 to Stockholm and either a BA A320 or BA B752 back to EGKK.

This is going to be nice :D

(But now, my poor laptop is screaming for sleep ;D)
