A carrier in the morning

Postby Daube » Wed Jan 07, 2009 6:44 pm

Hi all,

Here are some shots while having fun with AICarriers for FSX. Took the SuperHornet our for a ride, trying to catch some cables as you can see below :)

Carrier spotted, starting approach, airbrakes deployed.

I'm still too fast, but speed is reducing gently. The sun is getting up as you can see

Thanks a lot for the kind comments :)

This plane is really a pleasure once you disable the "high resolution virtual cockpit" option in the game settings (it will remove the FPS hit). It flies much slower than the Acceleration Hornet, which makes me think that one of those must have an incorrect flight model.

However, this Super Hornet looks beautifull and flies well. I just wish the virtual cockpit were more clickable.

Is this the KBT Super Bug? Looks good with that bloom! I like the last one as well.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Yes it is. It's the one and only freeware super hornet with a virtual cockpit anyway, so you can't miss.
And yes, the bloom is really producing some interesting effects with my new settings. For example, I really love the second shot, it gives the impression that the plane is in the sun while the ground is not, with a great contrast.  8-)

By the way, anoybody knows how to fix the HUD in this bird ? It goes crazy in FSX, excepted in the angle I have in the linked shot. If I bank left, I just get an unreadable pile of crazy lines moving in all directions, very strange  :-?

Wow. I like them all. Carrier landings are hard for me, especially with my computer, which I need to upgrade. Hard to catch a cable at 3 FPS.

Guess which cable I caught ?

You should've caught the second ::)

Sweet shots Daube! I like your use of the Bloom in these though I think in the second it's a little too apparent.

The second to last shot is very nice ... makes me wonder: "Is he going to make it or ..."

Thanks again to everybody for all the comments :)

Yes but I wanted to be original :P

Thank you ! Yes I know the bloom is quite exagerated in the second one, but I liked the contrast that it was producing with the dark "still out of the sun" scenery below.

The second to last shot is very nice ... makes me wonder: "Is he going to make it or ..."

Well, to be honnest it was almost a failure.  :-[ In fact I was too low, the aircraft bounced and caught the first cable while in the air, so the stopping has been a bit sporty. Fortunately, the plane remained stable and came to a stop on its wheels :)
