FS9 SkyWorld

Postby Bob70 » Thu Oct 09, 2008 5:32 pm

[size=14]Trying out FS SkyWorld in my FS9 Sim. This is the first cloud set that I tried so don't expect anything spectacular. There are tons of them to play around with. Same shot different times of the day early morning to early evening. Pretty impressive so far. Beats the h**l out of the FS9

The cloud master has returned! Freeware style! ;) 8-) And you didn't disappoint either! 8-) :o
Ever since I installed FS Skyworld, I'm finding it harder and harder to use FSX! ;) Runs so smooth, and you gotta love the FPS! ;D ;)

Don't I know it.  ;D I have all the time in the world, being retired.  ;D In a way it's pretty nice being back in FS9 where everything loads, like right now and the frame rates are out of sight and flying is super smooth. 8-)

Well Shane it's still nice to have them both. I don't plan on ever dumping FS9. The only thing I don't like about it is the water. FSX has spoiled me on that count. I've tried a couple of water fixes floating around, but didn't care for them. At present I'm using the FEPro water which looks a little better than default.

LOL same here! ;D I just wish there was a way to put FSX water in FS9. Now I'm downloading all that SRTM terrain from SimV for FS9, and man is it taking a while!(even at member speeds :-/)

FSSkyWorld was made AFAIK by one of the Active Sky Graphics people. It's like a freeware ASG for FS9. Great program! Shame no one's made something like that for FSX so people on tight budgets can get in on the awesome cloud action.

Lovely skies there, and I think I detect REpro in action for the water...

I must tell that the FS SKyWorld 2004 clouds (and I say ONLY THE CLOUDS, NOT THE SKY COLORS) will work with FSX retail. I think it worked with SP1 as well, but I'm not too sure anymore.

I WISH somebody would find a way to convert the SkyWorld textures in FSX SP2-copmpatible format. Even DXTBMP is not able to load those textures, I just see them in weird yellow/green/fushia colors :/
