It's a Long way down

Postby ShaneG_old » Wed Oct 08, 2008 11:32 am

Flying over Greenland, I spotted something in the distance and went to explore... and found a nice terrain glitch,

This in the middle of absolute nowhere! :-?

plenty of room at the bottom for an airstrip! ;)

The funny thing about those anomolies is that it is quite easy to fly in and land! But flying out is hard because you lose a ton of airspeed trying to fly straight up and out.
Its only in your mind, strong mind, strong soul and nobody can take that from you!

;D Lots of circling in something small, Helicopters shouldn't have a problem, I couldn't get the Su-47 back out without slamming into the wall on the way up. ;D

I'm working on designing an airport in Anarctica. I was going to check what altitude I had to set the field to, and when I started, I had something very similar to that. Basically an airport thousands of feet underground with some space cut away. I was doin' it in a Huey so I was able to get up, but it was very tricky. Whenn your in a helicopter going straight up and ther's walls on all sides of you less than 50-100 feet from your rotors... We'll just say it gets a little sporty a times. I did get to the lip of it though, and I almost lost all my lift. I got over and landed. After all that excitement I forgot to take my altitude.
