A work in progress...

Postby Anxyous » Thu Oct 02, 2008 1:32 pm

I'm quite a fan of SABA (small airport on the island Saba [Say-ba] approx. 30 NM South of St. Maarten), but I don't really have the money to get Fly Tampa's Princess Juliana, which includes an updated SABA...

The solution?

I thought I'd make my own!

Whereas the default SABA, is just a runway with two yellow X's, and a small apron, all surrounded by trees, my work currently includes:

Added tower with controller, and office building.

Extra apron included, with eight GA ramps in all.

Added taxiways.

Runway changed to include centerline, threshold, designator and touchdown zone (might change back to the two X's, seeing as it is how it looks IRL).

Added some static GA.

Added helipad.

Trees cleared out East of airport.

And here's a pic (work in progress!)

How do you do this-- adding scenery? I have EZScenery, but it failed to launch or something when I first tried. It gave me a link and I went there, but it just failed. It was over two years ago I tried this, so I don't really remember what went down. In any event, I was unable to add anything. I wanted to put some buildings in my town which is represented in FS as just a collection of trees and a crossroads, so I was quite disappointed...

If you want, I can get you a water mask for the water around there, it's amazingly beautiful.

I think you need to shorten it more, the runway is basicly covering the whole cliff from what i know.

The runway is sized correctly.

But yes, it does sit on a flat cliff some 18 metres MSL, but the default SABA (which is really TNCS) was created near sea level in FSX, and my skills aren't awesome enough to create those cliffs and stuff...

But as soon as I can... :)
