Just Zooming along - part 2

Postby gtirob01 » Thu Jul 17, 2008 10:39 pm

Part 1 - http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... 1216352180

It is very lonely at 37,000 feet in the middle of the north Atlantic! Atleast it was a clear day.

Great shots. I'll have to try a long flight like that myself one day.

You call that long? ;D ;D ;D ::)

Try VHHH to EGLL, now THAT will train you well, dear aspiring insomniac. ;)

Or maybe backwards, then continue on to Sydney. Call it a project, but do it all at once, or at least try.

(I think my minor insanity issues might be stirring right now.) :D 8-) :-X :-/

Ok, well maybe not the longest flight, but it was still around 11 hours. But I did cheat! haha. just used the map and placed the aircraft where I wanted it.

Actually, the landing on this flight was quite good.... just didnt get any good shots/angles of it.

You moved the aircraft with the map?

Try a 14 hour flight in a B-17 from San Francisco to Honolulu. No time compression, no GPS, and no map. I only used a compass, a primitive autopilot, and my Nav/Adf radios. All real time, and sitting at my computer.

Also, I recently flew from Washington to the Florida coast in a DC-4. The flight lasted almost 12 hours, and I only used my maps, compass, and my nav radios to navigate. I never once used the GPS, or the default map to see where I was. And once again, the flight was completed all real time while sitting at my computer

great looking shots...the most i can probably get away with is about an hour-2 hour flight maybe....after that it runs the risk of frustrating my bride  :)

Yea, I cant sit for more than maybe 2 hours on the computer. So thats why I just used the map to place the aircraft where I wanted it, took some shots, and moved on. I did of course fly the takeoff and landing legs on my own!
