...All leading to my contest shot...

I know I put that probe out!

It didn't in the recording though.

Aha! Can i ask if you flew formation or used slew mode? And did you do the tanker first? If you do other aircraft first, record it and play it back then fly the tanker, the probe will stay down - think its a quirlk of recorder that it cant only 'remembers' things like lights, gear, flaps, engine settings and so on. Simply move the tanker into position with slew mode and all will be well!

If youve got an aircraft with bits you need to show like this, ive found it has to be the aircraft you dont record.. :)

nice shots. I find recorder a pain to use. If you have fsx deluxe version try traffic explorer sdk to create multiple aircraft I find it simpler to use. have a good day

I did fly formation, which is something I struggle with with any aircraft. I pulled it off though. And, I did record the tanker first. 8-)

I had the same problem when I first tried this with the KC-10/SR-71. Then my next time around I flew the plane to be refueled (C-17)first, and had that as the traffic for the KC-135 flight. Was still hard, but I managed to get it! Flying formation as well. I just cant get slew mode to work with me.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

I've done so many refueling experiments with recorder in the past, it isn't funny. Hard work, but it always pays of with some pretty unique shots in the end. Another option is to find a model of the tanker with the probe permanently down.
Look at this shot for example. The KC-135 comes with 2 or 3 model options with the probe either up or down. Great for recording.
Or this one where the chopper was recorded first and the Hercules tanker slewed infront of it.
