TC-12B US Navy stylee

Postby todayshorse » Tue May 20, 2008 7:29 am

Everyone must be getting fed up of me and my king air - however, masternerd, shes coming on nicely - just a few details to add and polish up a few rough edges.......

This ones proved quite a challenge - especaily the lines round the nose. Turned out a giant eraser circle shape solved the problem!

Struggling for 'danger - propellor' type decals however....

But, despite that shes looking good :D

Your shots have inspired me to practice ILS approaches in the FSX default King Air (lots of fun, in such a small plane zipping over the threshold 10 feet above the ground!) so, keep the shots coming!  :D

Lovely repaint, I am surely downloading the AFG King Air just for your RAF and US Navy repaints.  ;)

The first one looks amazingly real. Great angle and lighting.

Exactly my thoughts ... if you didn't know better you'd say that was a photograph 8-)

Wow! Thankyou all for the kind comments and encouragement!

I have to admit defeat on the line under the front fuselage, i just cant get it right, so i hope its ok as it is.....the psd is very vague on the fuselage where it meets the gear doors, so i may have to use artisitic licence with the way the line goes under the aircraft. Not really noticeable unless you were really comparing it against the real thing, and as theres not many pictures of the real thing from underneath, i guess you cant compare!!!

Also the lettering on the tail. I havent got a USAF/USNAVY font that allows me to get the slanted or italic look that appears on the real thing. Even using the tools i have, slanting the lettering image once on the tail makes it look 'wrong' so i think it has to stay 'non italic'

Despite this, im real happy with the 'danger propellers' logos ive made from scratch with some tiny USAF stencil lettering - although they appear a little fuzzy from some angles - and images of the actual thing were tiny that i was working from.

And the nose line - very tricky as it does indeed slope slightly from the black section - and ive a little polishing up to do there and she should be done later today!!!

Again thanks for the comments!
