AFG King Air 300

Postby todayshorse » Fri May 16, 2008 1:50 am

....that ive started faffing with :-/

Difficult! But ive got this far so far with the engines.......paint isnt really from a 300, its from a 200, but it should be interesting if, and only if, i can pull it off as the engines are the only difference, so no one will know.... :-X

However, ive been flying round in it and its quite superb for freeware. Great sound, lovely dirt and panel lines, and all that stuff.

Sorry its not a great shot - but well worth a look -i dont usualy bother with stuff like this but im glad it was mentioned in another thread by Masternerd :D

The King Air is a nice, gentle, step-up from the regular, Piston Prop Beech Baron 58 Twin, to the Turbine Prop King Air Twin...a slightly different set of controls and handling characteristics, requiring a new "Type Test"...;)...!

Both lovely examples of the good-old Beech Aircraft... :-*...!

Paul...G-BPLF... 8-)...!

Further news!

Now she looks like this....i guess you can see where this is going!!

Its took me most of last nite and some of today to get the fuselage lines correct, even so the other side needs a little adjustment :(

The biggest problem, and i dont know if anyone else has come across this, is that when im doing the PSD's, it looks kinda well, terrible. I think it cant possibly look right - yet once loaded into fs9, they look remarkably good!

However instead of doing the whole side then loading checking and re-doing, im sorta having to do a little at a time, load, check, re-do, load, etc before moving on to the next bit. Its highly frustrating. The underneath of the wings alone have given me nightmares!!!

However its coming on nicely now...and im rather pleased with the way she appears in fs9, if not with how the bmps look :D

LOL!!!!! Thanks for the kind comments :)

The big parts are done so once ive figured the RAF stuff and added it, it shouldnt be too long before its complete!!

I hope its not a problem being a 300 when the RAF actualy uses 200's - the difference is only the engines from what ive read...im usualy a stickler for accuracy and dont bother with those repaints which are not real myself!!!

Couldnt find a good 300 that interested me - but i do like the RAF livery!

If you know of a nice 300 youd like doing, once ive done this and got to grips with the paintkit, im all for having a bash at it!!

Theres a few little inaccuraces, though youd need to examine a photo of the real thing to spot them, a lot is to do with the way the lines run down the fuselage - im just not experienced enough to replicate it yet!!

Presenting the completed repaint - ZK451 :D

Ill upload later today.

Sufice to say this i think is my finest so far (modesty gets you everywhere!)

Mainly because there was more to this than painting blocks of colour and copy-n-pasting logos and things all over.

Main problems turned out to be missing layers of shadows and various other important details from the two fuselage .psd's - thats why i was getting odd results and tearing my hair out wondering why :-?

Transfered missing layers from one over to the other and hey presto! it all came right.

Apologies to the purists however. Its certainly not as precise as i would really like - but my skills are still limited. Also it should be a B200 as noted previously....however i think only a king air fanatic would be able to 'spot the difference!!'

Also photos of the real thing are about but photos of the underneath are not...so ive used artisitic licence in placement of the roundels under the wings and indeed ontop of the wings.

The only under shot i have is one with 'G-RAFP' type markings in RAF colours so i dont know if it would have XK451 under the wings or not!!

Anyway thanks for the kind comments and if you download go easy on me when you find any 'mistakes' :D

Excellent Model...

Will accompany my FS 2004 Trusty Beech Baron 58...

...assuming that it is available for FS 2004?

Whilst on the subject of painting...;)....

How difficult is it to arrange for the user to insert their own registration letters/numbers on both sides of the fuselage....as can be
done with the default aircraft during selection of the aircraft from the drop-down list?
(I insert my own registration letters on my FS 2004 default Beech Baron 58, and some other aircraft).

Image

(This inserts the registration letters on the fuselage automatically).

Didn't think you liked turboprops Paul.

That would be defined in the MDL file by the person who created the visual model. Nothing the repainter can do about it.
