Appart from the compression problem as you said, I think those shots are OK. The weather conditions are especially interesting. The only problem in your shots is that the plane appears too small. You should try either to zoom in, or to get closer to the plane.

Also, with the same weather conditions, maybe you can get some interesting light by switching to the dusk or dawn. Worth a try, at least :)

Daube is right ... the shots are not bad. I actually like number three a lot! Though if zoomed in a bit more then it would've had more of an 'in your face' feel.

Lack of zoom and a lot of fog doens't generally yield great screenshots.
