Breaking through

An F-18 makes a low level pass, breaking the sound barrier in the last of the evening sun.

Great topic guys - good luck to all.

Thanks for comments.

Fair comment about the lack of clouds but the shot was taken with real-world weather - (carrier just off Bora Bora and Real Environment textures) and I just loved the colours in the sky!

Plus, I figured that clouds may distract from the 'pressure wave' around the F-18.

Anyway, glad you like it

Nice! Where can I get that sound-barrier effect? Or does it come with the aircraft (if so - where can I get the aircraft).

Great shot and good luck.

Celtman, the sound barrier effect came with the plane - don't know whether it's available separately.

It comes with the F-18 Super Hornet http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb.cgi?section=military&file=fa-18e_sh.zip FS2004 Military, page 19.

The effect should happen when the plane reaches the appropriate speed, although I must say that sometimes mine doesn't - can't work out why that should be, though.
