The New Graphics Card - Part 1

Postby Xyn_Air » Tue Mar 04, 2008 7:22 pm

OK, all I bought was a Nvidia GeForce 7600 with 512MB, but this is worlds better than the motherboard chipset I was using!  Also, with the help of some extra RAM I installed along with it, this new graphics card has really made FSX playable for me.

So, I thought I would show you some of the screen shots I have taken lately with the new graphics card.  The settings you see in these shots are the ones I actually fly with (in other words, I didn't pause the game, jack up the settings, and then take a shot).  Also, these flights were normal flights for me, so they may be a tad uninteresting (I wasn't specifically hunting for screen shots during the flights where I took these).

This first shot is a deHavilland Beaver over San Francisco.  At this point, I was still toying with the settings, so things weren't completely where I wanted them yet.  Still, it was a rather dynamic city-scape sort of shot.

This next shot is a Cessna 172 over North Dakota, just a little south of where my family lives.  While the aircraft is somewhat far off in this picture, this screen shot is one of my favorites due to the colors of the dawn sky.  By this point, the settings are closer to where I have them now.

Just another shot of the Cessna over North Dakota.  However, in this shot the aircraft is the focus of the image and less so the dawn sky behind it.

The final shot in part 1 is of a Grumann Goose somewhere of the north Atlantic.  I have to admit that by this point, I was pleased as punch at how well the new card was bringing out the detail of the aircraft.  You must consider that with the old chipset, the aircraft were incredibly fuzzy.

OK, that's it for this set.  In part 2 I have some pictures of a jet, specifically the Bombardier CRJ700.  I hope you enjoyed these shots and I look forward to your comments.
