Postby turbo_skylane » Wed Jan 02, 2008 1:45 am

I downloaded this thing not too long ago, I'm must say, its purdy! I took off from my home airport with it, decided to post up some photos of my lil trip.

EDIT: See Below for better pictures!

I kinda wish it had a pilot that was visible from the outside, but i'm not complaining. It's a great aircraft, and a joy to fly... 8-)
It's not too often that I download an aircraft and not end up editing, or rebuilding stuff in it.

It's too bad the payware aircraft I bought wasn't even close to this quality.... ::)

Hey Brett , you may need to change the texture into dds otherwise I think won't work in DX10 ,

Hey Andrew did you test Brett's Cardinal in DX10? your reply is very important to us(or just me  :-/)

Yeah.. I'd be curious about that.. though my cousin has been flying it on a Vista/Acceleration computer.

I think it'll be  OK, as long as it's a true FSX model.  We'll see  :-/

Sure would've been nice if you got us a little closer to the plane for a better look, but I guess I'll just have to try it for myself. ;D

Yea the pictures were gonna be 800x600 but they were too big for the server.

edit: here's some more
edit2: only one thing I would change, I would make a cockpit/vc have a bit less fuzzy panel "backing" other than that, this thing is perfect. I love the gear.

Wow !  Great shots...  Of course I'm a little biased...

I think you might have gone over the 500kb thread limit though...  QUICK delete the first set, so people can see these stunning shots  :)

Love the shots. i actually looked into trying to re-paint the Cessna 177 today, but it's been years since i've done anything of the sort, and started feeling overwhelmed. Oh well.... :-[

The goofy new FSX materials are tough...  If you don't get the spectral map (and its alpha), and diffuse map (and its alpha), just right; you get a "film" that obscures detail at best... and opaque glass and chrome that turns black at night, at worst.

I'm not even comfy repainting it... A couple of people have tried, but they didn't have the patience to tweak the new alphas.. so I asked them not to release the re-paints. It's not that I'm extra picky, but when rivets get smudged and the detail lines of the engine cylinder blur.. well... it's not pretty  :(
