Yes FSX is payware, but you have to have it or another MSFS to get a screenshot. However, Acceleration is an addon just like my PMDG 747 , and CLS Airbus Fleet, and I can't enter them. Is that because they were not MS addon Payware?

Well others used acceleration in the previous comp and dave (fly2e) came in and said that it was okay to use acceleration. So I'd presume it'd be okay for this contest too.

It may be because it's such a widely-known release; made by microsoft and released in box sets to mainstream game stores - as opposed to those ones you find on websites that, however fantastic, dont get as much exposure to the mainstream markets. ;)

I thought payware was not allowed because not everyone could afford it. I know you can spend hundreds of dollars on addons for a game to make it as real as it gets

To add my two cents....Acceleration pack, I believe, is considered to be part of FSX; it's a service pack and an add-on, but not payware (even though we had to pay for it). I think "payware" is anything not made by Micorsoft that you had to pay for.

Anyway, great shot, nice angle, and background; just a bit to dark I think. Good luck in the comp.

That is the theory behind this, but I guess the thinking behind this exception is that so many people will have bought it that there's no point stopping people from using it.

Remember this is a screenshot competition meant to show screensho talent; and since acceleration is such a brilliant add-on, and it is so mainstream, why stop people from showing it off? ;)

Hello ya all, thanks for all your comments, and yes, "Acceleration" or "Service pack 2", whatever we call it should be allowed. The fact is that the original FSX is incomplete without SP2 or Acceleration, about the DX10 thing and all the modifications to gains FPS.
Of course FSX Acceleration is payware but its the only official Microsoft add-on i know and is fully a part of FSX itself. You can upgrade FSX free with SP2 but without the new planes and missions comming with acceleration.

I don't think that using the acceleration planes is not allowed by the rules because it's payware, it was a part of the FSX initial project, it was called "Adrenaline" expansion pack before.

I hope I'm not wrong. Thanks again for comments!

Good luck
