Been gone for a very long time!

Postby EricK » Tue Dec 18, 2007 10:34 pm

Hey there,

Some of you might remember me (Ozzy, Fly2e, etc.), I haven't been around in a long time. My super duper Alienware system blew up over a 1 year ago. Then FSX was released and I just haven't had the money to get a system to run it as good as my Area 51 ran FS9. That is until now! Well sorta, I am still working out the kinks and man there are a lot of things to work out when it comes to FSX but I am slowly getting there. I still have unreasonably low frame rates but every 100$ seems to buy a frame or two!!!!(haha)

My first shot in FSX (and first shot in almost 2 years), just over Deep Cove in a `Kenmore beaver` that looks a lot more like a Harbour Air beaver but oh well!

Take care
Eric

You might have been out of it (SimV - wise for more than 2 years - I joined in August 05 and I don't remember an EricK... though I've seen some fine Gallery winners by "Erik" - are they yours?

Nice to see you anyway - and a lovely pic too!  :D

Thanks guys,

Krigl, that was me, back when my original rig was firing on all cylinders. It sure has been a while.

Should be back up and running sooner or later. Can't wait to get going in those screenshot comps again. FSX sure has some great potential.

Sweeet. It stuns me that your system can actually handle FSX especialy with the 1Gb or RAM but I guess that the RAM is fast... ;) Looking forward to seeing more :)

Thanks Esselbach, and Wiiliketofly, the system in my sig is the one that died. It is now torn apart and sitting in my closet. I had to buy a new computer about a month ago. It is very average by current stantards but it is playing FSX OK. It is an HP duo core with 3g ram and middle of the road specs, however, I am working with the power supply and graphics card right now. It came with a 6150se 128mg card. Absolute crap, but I have temporaly installed a 7 series (borrowed it!). Huge improvement, but a long way to go!!! I hope to get an 8800gtx and bigger power supply by the end of the holiday season.

Thanks
Eric

Did you buy that comp in a bundle with a 22" monitor? Sounds an awful lot like the one I bought about a month ago ;D The 6150SE on my system sucks but I have $180 saved up for a new card and I think I see my PSU under the Christmas tree ;) :D

Haha, wiiliketofly your right about the 22' monitor bundle (Future Shop- about $650 i think). I was in a rush to replace my broken one, so I just grabbed the first deal I could find. Brutal graphics card but at least the whole thing is expandable.

Take care
Eric
