Something definately looks wrong here...in a previous contest, didn't you enter a shot with heat blur?

And I agree with Iwannabeapilot, the V-22, B-1B and C-5 look Alphasim.

LOL, that was exactly what I thought when i saw this shot!

Despite the quite crude looking smoke I don't think the shot looks particularly edited, and im not 100% sure it is...unlike the 'heat blur' in the last one...!

There are some inconsistencies though...

1. the smoke is exactly the same diameter on all aircraft, even though the two red arrows in the background are far far behind...suggesting you were lazy and used the same size brush in PS  :P

2. Despite the fact that the smoke effect is used on exactly the same model, on some of the Hawks it starts perfectly behind the engine...where as on the others its a metre or so behind the aircraft....

3. the little blob on the smoke on the hawk on the top left, it looks like you have held the brush down for just slightly longer than the rest...and as you aren't using 100% opacity it makes it appear darker...thus the blob!

4. How the feck would you do that in slew mode?????? It would be far harder than actually flying it! I havent played FS for a while, but surely the point in it is you keep straight? Not for nice curvy descents...

I could go on, but they are my main points...! Other than that though, the editing was pretty good (aside from badly drawn smoke) You managed to cut it around the aircraft so well for someone that would draw smoke that badly that it makes me think its not edited...!

hmmmm, i wouldnt like to have to say...nor is it my place to, but inspecting that pic was fun  ;D

And besides the infamous smoke, its an amazingly set up shot...can see a lot of works gone into it! Well done  :)

umm this may just be me, but that smoke looks really fake...  I'm hoping you didn't do any picture processing after you took the shot.  The smoke trails usually would be straighter as I'm not sure a plane could move in the manor your smoke suggests.

cool shot man. But I have to agree with the others here. slewing while trying to get a nice smoke trail just doesn't work man, Ive tried it b4 its awfuly hard to get perfect. It looks like you took the airbrush in PSP and made the smoke trail(i.e. look at the sudden stops in the strokes at the top of the shot and esp. at the far right plane where it starts. BUt good try man hope it goes far if it is real.

That smoke is definately added in. Look at how the smoke on the plane on the far right doesnt start until it is passed the exhaust. Then look at all the other planes and you will notice that the smoke starts right away. It's obviously edited and if it isnt I think that it's a rather poor screenshot.

sgc3000000, Surely you can understand our suspicion. I'm not saying you cheated here, and I'm not saying you didn't, It's not my place. But if you were to post the name of the  smoke effect used in the shot, and let others try to duplicate the results you got from it, that would quicklly end any and all doubt. ;) Just open up the .cfg file of the aircraft you used , look in the "smokesystem" section, and tell everyone the name of the effect. That simple. Good Luck in the contest.

If it was up to me (which it isn't) I would have to rule it as a fake. For me, not only does the smoke look strangely misplaced but the aircraft also look as if they've been placed. Getting everything to look that perfect in recorder would be a big task too.
No offence meant and if it is real after all then I aplogise

Guys, drop it.  The mods will decide if it's fake or not.

NOT to be rude, but fake or not, the smoke looks like poo, no way would I want this in the finals simply because, well, the smoke looks like poo.   The composition of the shot is great, but the smoke completely ruins it.  And it's also generally really blurry.  So it's not like it's gonna be a cheat that wins the finals ::)

Looks to me that the effect was edited in.
Please hold on this, as this image has just been hung on the admin wall down in the basement pub for verification.

Let's hope this was not edited as it would really break some rules.
