"Folks, your in for a loud surprise!"

Postby N2744X » Tue Aug 28, 2007 1:22 am

These aviation fans attending a small-town airshow get a surprise visit from the Georgia Air National Guard! An F16C comes through the barn, killing all chickens in sight :'(, and setting all hay on fire. ;D My first ever entry into the screenshot competition. It looked like fun, so I just couldnt resist.

There's some jaggies here, but i really like the idea behind this shot... the multiple-window idea especially, although I don't know whether that's gonna make this shot illegitimate, since the rules say 'from the spectators viewpoint' but you have a mini-view from inside the cockpit. I don't know....

It shouldnt because it was all done in the sim with no editing at all. Also, how can I properly resize the image so that there are no jaggies when resized?

Editing isn't what I said what might disqualify this shot... it's the fact that there is something in the shot that is not from the spectators' viewpoint...

As for getting rid of jaggies, first of all - do you have a reasonably capable graphics card? If you do, you probably have a feature availabe to you called 'anti aliasing' - which gets rid of jaggies in the sim - so as a consequence, screenshots will not have jaggies.

Also I would recommend a program called irfanview - which is widely used round here - it has a wonderful 'resample' feature - basically a more flexible version of 'resize' - it resizes your image and smoothes it out, and it is, in mostr cases, able to get rid of jaggies. It also resizes in an aspect ratio if you ask it to, so there is no danger of your image being distorted....

Hope this helps...

SB... :D
