ConurePilot,

Just wanted to thank you for posting NWA pics.  For whatever reason (probably because they are the only airline servicing the town where my family lives, and they do that with jets; not too bad for middle-of-nowhere North Dakota), I am in love with NWA.  Anytime you feel like sharing shots of NWA aircraft, you will always have an avid audience in me.

All the best,

I'll keep that in mind. :) I actually use this plane and one other NWA Airbus type with FS Passengers. If I can get enough money in FSP, I'll get a 747. Until then, I'll try improving my screenshot-taking skills so I can post some better pics of the A319 and 320.

Money?  FSP?  :o  I am so confused . . . Can you help explain that to a newb like myself?  Please and thank you.

FSP=FS Passengers. A program which lets you run your own airline, etc.

Money=Virtual currency within FSP. Buy new aircraft of your own as you progress through various ranks.

Hope that helps. ;)

Thanks much!  I went to the site and the add-on looks quite fascinating.  I had been leaning towards the idea of doing a VA, and this is exactly the sort of resource I could use if I should do so.  Thanks again, AN-124 and CP.

All the best,

I guess I shouldn't underestimate FS9.

No you shouldn't ... I don't have a killer machine and in FSX I get 15 FPS max. So I'll stick with FS9 for a while until I assemble a new machine maybe next year.
FS9 is still very nice! I think there are so many people here posting beautiful shots coming from FS9 than I see coming from FSX. Exceptions confirm the rule though ...

It's just that I don't have the environmental add ons that alot of other people do, so my sim (other than the planes and water) is pretty much stock.

If you want some nice freeware addons, look for Real Environment Pro, FS Sky Worldand Waterzone. I think these are amongst the best freeware Flight Simulator enhancements available.
And get a nice mesh, SimV has a really good freeware mesh available here. For some nice freeware traffic there are several to choose from but I would suggest World of AI. If you're willing to spend some cash get Ground Environment Pro, Flight Environment and ActiveSky. Consider the Ultimate Terrain series and maybe even Ultimate Traffic. Get FSGenesis or FSGlobal for a nice mesh.
Maybe I should play with the lighing a bit. These shots were taken in the dead of night, so maybe I should try taking some before the sun completely disappears.

That really works well! Look at that second screenshot. It just before the sun completely disappears. Add some big clouds or a thick cloud layer and you have a very impressive and dark sky, while maintaining very nice lighting. And you don't have to worry about catching all the nice details of the aircraft. It's dark anyway. Here another example. It was my contest entry last April ...

Wow, I didn't realise there were so many freeware environment add ons! Thanks for pointing that out to me.  ;) I will definitally be trying a few.

But I just have a couple questions.
I have xtra water, something I got here at simv, but is the one you mentioned better?
And what exactly does mesh do? (Sorry if that's obvious)

is the one you mentioned better?

Not necessarily ... just a matter of taste really. Experiment with different textures, reflections and waves. Get what you like best ;)

My water is under going some serious rethinking; at the moment I'm experimenting with Flight Environment water textures combined with waterzone reflections (envmaps) and waves (oceanheightfield).

And what exactly does mesh do?

Mesh provides ground elevation (hills, mountains, ravines, etc.) Read this and check out this example. If you'd like to read more about this and more read the The Bloody Beginner's Guide to Realistic Flight Simulation. And if you need anything just ask ... that's what we're here for ;)
