Houston To Detroit...Northwest Baby Bus.

Postby Triple_7 » Sat Aug 18, 2007 2:24 pm

Around the world, so many places and only melted the tip of the iceberg so far.  Goal, started in April while I sat in Kuwait, visit as many countries as possible, and include all 50 US states.  So far 14 countries and 4 states.

I left off in Cincinnati, Ohio.  From there I flew to Chicago, thanks to GCS theres no shots >:(  From Chicago I headed for Houston, Texas.  The shots from that flight were messed up when GCS somehow got put on auto resize :-[  So I now sit somewhere in Japan, had to make my way to Detroit first.

Next...The trip to Japan.  Was actually making my way to Taiwan but thanks to Typhoon Sepat that didn't happen...Tao Yuan had a lot of delays and cancellations...plus I use real world weather and wasn't in the mood to try and bring a bird down in 120 MPH+ winds :o  To think on this date and time last year in real life I was aboard an MH 747-400 somewhere over the Pacific with 9+ hours left to go before hitting LAX.  Kind of glad I'm not doing that this year...I would probably still be stuck in Chung-Li...not that I would have minded :(

14 countries, 4 states, don't even want to know how many left ;D

Wow! Seems like your new machine is treating you very good isn't it?

I like your shots but I think that you could get more out of that system. The images seem slightly vague but that could be because of compression ... which graphics card was in there again?

Thanks :)

System is treating me very well ;D  Graphics card: Gigabyte PCI-E 512MB GDDR2 GeForce 8500GT with DX10.

A lot of the problem right now is compression.  Using IrfanView to resize...sometimes have to take a lot of quality to get them under 100K, A few shots I gave up on.  But I just installed Photoshop 7 again and will try it for my resizing.  So will see if theres a difference after I post the flight to Japan.

I'm taking the shots with what I have to work with.  Real world routes and times have left me flying in the daylight.  Weather is the most interesting thing I can make use of.  Theres not a whole lot of scenery to download for some cities either, making for some very plain shots.  Just wait till I can get to the sunsets and the sunrises.  Should have some more color and moods to work with.

Also the quality I see here may vary drastically from what some see.  I'm stuck using a very old IBM monitor that doesn't have near the crispness of todays LCD.  It will probably be around Christmas before I can afford a new one.  I had the tower done but my budget just wouldn't allow any more for awhile ;)  So whats crispy to me is probably fuzzy to most.  Hopefully that will change soon.

there is nothing fuzzy about them or wrong with them apart from sharpness which you could alter on your video card.have a play with it.brightness/contrast and vibrance.

cheers
Dave ;)

Great shots, Triple 7.  I have always really loved the Northwest liveries, so I get excited to see shots of them either from in-game or in real life.

If you are looking for places to visit in a Northwest aircraft, you might want to try Minot, North Dakota (KMOT).  It is a small strip, but it is only serviced by Northwest Airlines.  That is where my family lives, so whenever I get the chance to go home and visit them, I am always flying Northwest.  If you really want to make the flight accurate, use a DC9-40, if you can, as that is the only type of jet NWA is flying in and out of Minot.  I have landed an NWA liveried 737 at Minot, though, so the runway should be plenty long enough for whatever you want to fly.

Anyway, great shots, thanks for sharing, and good luck with your world tour!

All the best,
~Darrin
