Aye, same here. No apologies!

Anyways, all I really did was point A1 in the direction of Nicks very helpful posts.

I really learned a lot from Nick and think very highly of him. Although he insists that the tweaks are not his, it is Nick that brought them to all of our attention and we really owe him for that. Nick really knows what he's talking about when it comes to hardware and especially setting it up the proper way. And apart from that he's just a really nice guy :-*

Good to see you back Nick! Can't wait to see some photo's ;)

Hollywood graphic studios have been using that same optimize approach for years. There are variations of it and it has changed with the OS and driver needs as time has passed. All I did was cut through the tweak jungle and get to the things that make a difference.

Black Viper has a web site that everyone ran to for service killing. The problem is his method does not shut the service down completely and also shuts down more services than should ever be shut down. Many of them are wrong to shut down, such as the task scheduler, etc.

Most of the gains come from getting rid of the graphics eye candy Windows pushes on memory and CPU, and optimizing the hard drive correctly for sequential file access using O&O Defrag v8-8.5.

The 4 highest CPU/memory killers in Windows for games are in this order:

1. Startup Programs/services
2. Disk Access (fragmented, Partitioned, too full or all of the above)
3. Windows Eye candy
4. Networking Component Use

Having read the previous threads, I can now breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Whew::)

The last thing I wanted to do was to start an intergalactic war on this forum.

Now off to optimize my CPU instead of playing "World Explorer" (grand illusions of sailing around the world) with my French Clipper.

Yeah... after seeing some screenshots of that TBM700, and a link to your review, I downloaded it, and already it is one of the most flown aircraft in my hangar.

Those modern birds are nice but try Milton Shupe's Beech D-18 for a bit of history ;)

I've never been all that keen on vintage GA or commercial aircraft - warbirds, modern airliners, modern high-performance jets, a couple of exceptional historical aircraft (concorde, for example) and modern GA and trainer aircraft tend to be what I fly most. For example, I have the AFS-typhoon, and that one is the most flown aircraft in my hangar by a looooong way.

However, I still like the look of that D-18. I'm gonna keep an open mind and give it a try. About to start downloading now.

Very good ... you won't be disappointed! There is so much you can get for this bird, like panel mods, skins, sounds etc. My D-18 folder is 1.8 GB! ::)
But get in that D-18 and fly through the mountains at Juneau ... just breath taking. Take the time to look around you ;)
